Sound is all around us, yet we often take it for granted. We hear the birds singing, the wind rustling through the leaves, the waves crashing on the shore. But do we really listen?

In Edge of the Sound, David George Haskell takes us on a journey into the heart of sound, exploring the profound connection between sound and our world. He travels to remote wilderness areas, from the rainforests of Borneo to the deserts of the American Southwest, to listen to the sounds of the natural world.

Along the way, Haskell meets a diverse cast of characters, from musicians to scientists to environmentalists. He learns about the latest research on sound and its effects on our physical and mental health. And he discovers the power of sound to connect us with the world around us.

Edge of the Sound is a beautifully written and thought-provoking book that will change the way you listen to the world. It is a must-read for anyone who loves music, nature, or simply wants to understand the power of sound.
