In Warrior, Sharon provides a firsthand account of his life and career, from his childhood on a kibbutz to his rise to the top of Israeli politics. He offers his insights on the major events of his time, including the Six-Day War, the Yom Kippur War, and the Oslo Accords. He also discusses his controversial decisions as Prime Minister, such as the construction of the separation barrier between Israel and the West Bank and the withdrawal from Gaza.

Warrior is a fascinating and complex portrait of a man who dedicated his life to the defense and security of Israel. Sharon was a brilliant military strategist and a skilled politician, but he was also a flawed and controversial figure. His autobiography provides a unique glimpse into the mind of one of the most important and enigmatic figures in modern history.

The Early Years

Ariel Sharon was born in 1928 in the village of Kfar Malal, in what was then British Mandate Palestine. His father was a farmer and his mother was a teacher. Sharon grew up on a kibbutz, a communal farm, where he learned the values of hard work and self-reliance.

Sharon joined the Haganah, the Jewish paramilitary organization, at the age of 14. He fought in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, where he was wounded in action. After the war, Sharon remained in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF),where he rose through the ranks.

The Military Career

Sharon was a brilliant military strategist and a fearless commander. He led Israeli forces to victory in several major battles, including the Battle of Latrun in the 1948 war and the Battle of Mitla Pass in the 1956 Suez Crisis.

In 1967, Sharon led the IDF's Southern Command during the Six-Day War. His forces captured the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. Sharon's victory in the war made him a national hero.

In 1973, Sharon led the IDF's Northern Command during the Yom Kippur War. The war was a major setback for Israel, but Sharon's forces managed to prevent the Syrian army from capturing the Golan Heights.

The Political Career

After the Yom Kippur War, Sharon entered politics. He was elected to the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, in 1977. Sharon served in several ministerial positions, including Minister of Defense and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2001, Sharon was elected Prime Minister of Israel. He served in that position until 2006. During his time as Prime Minister, Sharon oversaw the construction of the separation barrier between Israel and the West Bank. He also withdrew Israeli forces from Gaza in 2005.

Sharon's decisions as Prime Minister were controversial, but he remained a popular figure in Israel. He was seen as a strong leader who was willing to make tough decisions to protect the country.

The Legacy

Ariel Sharon died in 2014. He was 85 years old. He is remembered as one of the most important and influential figures in Israeli history. His autobiography, Warrior, provides a unique glimpse into the life and mind of a man who dedicated his life to the defense and security of Israel.

Warrior is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of the Middle East conflict. It is a fascinating and complex portrait of a man who was both a brilliant military strategist and a skilled politician. Sharon was a flawed and controversial figure, but his autobiography provides a unique glimpse into the mind of one of the most important and enigmatic figures in modern history.
