The Hockey Legend Who Built The Bruins Art Ross: The Hockey Legend Who Built The Bruins

The Boston Bruins are one of the most storied franchises in the National Hockey League (NHL). They have won six Stanley Cups, including one in 2011, and have produced some of the greatest players in the history of the game. But the Bruins would not be where they are today without the contributions of one man: Art Ross.

Ross was born in Souris, Manitoba, Canada, in 1886. He began playing hockey as a child, and by the time he was a teenager, he was one of the best players in the country. In 1905, Ross joined the Montreal Wanderers of the National Hockey Association (NHA),the forerunner of the NHL. He quickly became one of the league's top scorers, and in 1908, he won the first of his four Stanley Cups with the Wanderers.

In 1911, Ross was traded to the Boston Bruins, a new team that had just joined the NHA. The Bruins were struggling at the time, but Ross quickly turned things around. He led the team to its first Stanley Cup championship in 1924, and he won three more Cups with the Bruins in 1929, 1939, and 1941.

Ross was not only a great player, but he was also a great coach and general manager. He coached the Bruins to two Stanley Cups, and he helped build the team into one of the most successful in the NHL. Ross was also known for his innovative ideas, such as the of the forward pass and the blue line.

Ross retired from playing in 1939, but he continued to coach and manage the Bruins until 1945. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945, and his number, 4, was retired by the Bruins in 1952.

Art Ross was one of the most important figures in the history of the Boston Bruins. He was a great player, coach, and general manager, and he helped build the team into one of the most successful in the NHL. Ross's legacy is still felt today, and he is considered one of the greatest hockey players of all time.
